Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni and Defence Minister Roberta Pinotti took part in NATO Summit, which was held in Warsaw on 8 and 9 July 2016.<\/p>\n
The Summit took place in a crucial moment for the Alliance and represented a further step of NATO adaptation process to new security challenges faced by the Euro-Atlantic community, namely multidimensional threats that have a direct impact on security and wellness of its populations.<\/p>\n
As also stressed in the Final Communiqu\u00e9<\/a>, the essential mission of NATO is unchanged: to ensure the principles of freedom, peace, security and shared values \u2013 individual liberty, human rights, democracy, and the rule of law \u2013 as well as the relevance of the transatlantic bond. Furthermore, NATO remains determined to respond to security challenges and threats from any direction.<\/p>\n Since the last Summit in Wales in 2014, while continuing its political, military and institutional adaptation, the Alliance took a range of steps to reinforce collective defence, enhance capabilities, and strengthen resilience. Faced with an increasingly diverse, unpredictable, and demanding security environment, NATO has taken in Warsaw further action to defend its territory and protect its populations, but also to project stability beyond its borders.<\/p>\n On the margins of the Summit, a Quint meeting took place.
