From 30 November to 1 December 2015, Aspen Institute Italia and CEPS (Centre for European Policy Studies) co-hosted a conference in Brussels, in cooperation with EUISS (European Union Institute for Security Studies) and with the support of EEAS (European External Action Service), in which Ambassador Zappia took part. The event, made up of three working sessions, focused on energy source diversification, national and cross-border dimension of energy security and supply, the role of energy in trade negotiations and climate change in partnerships.
In her speech, Ambassador Zappia set out the consequences of energy security in the transatlantic framework, with particular reference to the Italian National Energy Strategy – in line with the guidelines provided by the European Union and the UN – and stressing how Italy represents a positive example, especially in the field of renewable and sustainable energy.
