Italy-Georgia: Minister Pinotti met Georgian Minister of Defence Tinatin Khidasheli, 30 June 2016

The agenda of the meetings included issues related to bilateral cooperation between the two countries, international security and NATO-Georgia relations in view of Warsaw Summit on 8-9 July.

“Georgia is making a great effort to get closer to the Atlantic Alliance. Our Armed Forces are working shoulder to shoulder in many bilateral cooperation activities”, said Minister Pinotti, recalling the collaboration existing between the Armed Forces of both countries, especially in the field of training.

“The quality of the Georgian Armed Forces”, continued Minister Pinotti, “is particularly high and we have always received excellent feedback on every operational and training occasion”. Shared commitment for international security was also mentioned: “We welcome the effort made by Georgia in Afghanistan through its very large contingent. This is an absolutely exceptional endeavour towards international security”, concluded the Defence Minister.

The Georgian Minister expressed great satisfaction for the meeting, which was a concrete demonstration of a frank and friendly collaboration between Italy and Georgia, as well as a starting point for developing projects of future cooperation in a turbulent and changing geopolitical context.
