“2016 NATO Summit: What Agenda for Italy”, 10 June 2016, Rome

Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero took part in the meeting organised by the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) on “2016 NATO Summit: What Agenda for Italy”.

During the event, moderated by the Chairman of the Institute, Ambassador Ferdinando Nelli Feroci, Ambassador Bisogniero explained, among other things, what are the two main issues which will be addressed by Allies at the upcoming Warsaw Summit (8-9 July 2016). On the one hand, a limited and proportionate reinforcement of NATO defence and deterrence, with a 360° approach, in order to tackle all threats, irrespective of where they originate from. On the other hand, the projection of stability also in areas that go beyond NATO borders, for example the Mediterranean or maritime regions, in order to counter phenomena such as uncontrolled migration, terrorism or arms trafficking. In all these dimensions, the Alliance must demonstrate that it can respond to its citizens through a comprehensive approach.
