The Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, together with Defence Minister Roberta Pinotti and with the assistance of Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero, took part in the Meeting of Heads of State and Government of the Atlantic Alliance. A key opportunity to reiterate the importance of the transatlantic bond and the resolve in the fight against terrorism.
The working session was preceded by the unveiling of Berlin Wall and Twin Towers Memorials offered by Germany and the USA, as well as by the Handover Ceremony for the new Headquarters, which Belgium officially handed over to NATO.
A reinforced commitment of NATO in the fight against terrorism and in the burden sharing between Europe and North America were the main decisions made by Leaders.
The Meeting was also attended by Duško Marković, Prime Minister of Montenegro, which will become the 29th Member of the Alliance in early June 2017.
