NATO Summit, 11-12 July 2018

The Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, accompanied by Foreign Minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi and Defence Minister Elisabetta Trenta – assisted by Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero – took part in the Summit of NATO Heads of State and Government.

In virtue of Italy’s transatlantic solidarity, reflected in its participation in all NATO missions and operations as well as in the deployment of men and women to protect the Eastern flank of the Alliance, Italy obtained the strengthening of NATO’s role in the South through the adoption of a “Package on the South”. This is a coherent set of measures aimed at implementing NATO’s posture on the Southern flank, and therefore its 360° adaptation. Among these measures, the full capability of the Regional Hub for the South at NATO JFC Naples is particularly relevant.

On the sidelines of the Summit, a meeting of the Global Coalition against Daesh took place. Foreign Minister Moavero Milanesi participated, assisted by Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero.
